Memo to Bill O'Reilly: Teenagers (even gay ones) are Americans, too.

You might not know this if you watched his show last night, where he expressed his outrage over a "cutest couple" contest that selected two females at an Illinois high school as the winners.

Ugh.

Bill O'Reilly Says the Darndest Things

Bill O'Reilly was hawking his new book on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno last night. I caught the last part of the interview. The book is called Kids Are Americans Too. You know, it's a response to that formidable mass of Americans who believe that kids who live in the United States aren't Americans. Think about the stupidity of this title for a minute and your head might explode.

This book is O'Reilly's second attempt to make money by marketing a book for kids. The last one was called The O'Reilly Factor For Kids.

I think I'd prefer my child to read Everyone Poops instead, because it will help them prepare for a life of dealing with people like Bill O'Reilly.

So with Bill now pandering to kids, and I'm sure he'll make a nice penny, perhaps it's a good time to revisit what Bill O'Reilly said about a kidnapped child earlier this year, about how this child probably enjoyed his four years of captivity, arguably using the type of logic endorsed by pedophiles.

This is just gut-wrenchingly ignorant:

A couple days ago, I predicted that Bill O'Reilly would, on Tuesday's Countdown With Keith Olbermann, be named (once again) the "Worst Person in the World in the World" for saying that a kidnapped boy actually preferred his four years of captivity. I was wrong. Olbermann didn't mention B.O.'s remarks either Tuesday or Wednesday.

But he did tonight.

As soon as it hits YouTube, I'll post. You're going to want to see this.

And watch the below video before it gets taken down off YouTube. O'Reilly digs his own grave. Embarrassing. Shameful. Outrageous.



You're also going to want to read this blog, the first to report on this mess, about how O'Reilly's comments and beliefs are strangely line with NAMBLA, a group that advocates pedophilia. Incredible.

Something Smells About B.O.

Here's a question to consider:

How did he do it? How did [Bill] O'Reilly, an unemployed has-been only a decade ago, turn himself into a moneymaking empire, complete with a Web site offering "Spin Stops Here" doormats, beach towels, bumper stickers, license-plate frames and coffee mugs, and "The Rain Stops Here"” umbrellas for $37.50 --— not to mention the minor matter of a Fox News contract said to be in the neighborhood of $50 million?

of one book by B.O. and another about B.O.

Here's my favorite paragraph from the review, which could give some perspective about why he hates the media so much, and it's a little personal:

O'Reilly'’s greatest crisis, Kitman reports, came during the 1982 Falkland Islands War: he was supposed to appear on the CBS Evening News, which would be "“validation for his father that he was a network foreign correspondent, that a major corporation was wise enough to have faith in him."” Instead, the CBS star Bob Schieffer cut him out of the story. (In his 1998 suspense novel, "Those Who Trespass,"” O'Reilly concocted a character resembling Schieffer, who is brutally murdered.)

So, all this was in the back of my mind when I read about B.O.'s take on the kidnapped Midwest child who was taken from his family and held for more than 4 years. So enter Bill O'Reilly, who really knows nothing firsthand about the situation, other than secondary sources such as media reports and from what he's heard on TV or read in the newspaper, and gives us his self-assured take: That the kid is faking it, as Patty Hearst did, and was in the middle of virtually a four-year party of sorts. Horrifying. (People have been trying to load the clip to YouTube, but without success.)

Shouldn't a conservative be cautious and prudent about judgments, especially as it relates to a four-year nightmare involving a child?

Tonight, on Countdown With Keith Olbermann, I wonder who the World's Worst Person will be?
