This Makes Me ... Sad

Sad for McCain. One reaps what one sows.

Sad for the woman who said this. Don't most of us have an ignorant relative or acquaintance (or maybe even friend) who would say the same thing? Can she help it if she gets all her news from Fox and believes everything read from a teleprompter and insinuated during a Sarah Palin stump speech?

Sad.

Yes, this is really sad. I saw on CNN that the reported asked her after the rally why she felt that way, and she just continued to say that she didn't believe that Obama wasn't a Muslim and an Arab. How sad...

This woman doesn't make me as sad as the fact that according to recent polls about 15% of the American Public think that Obama is Muslim. That means that roughly one out of every six people that you see during your day, probably hold the mistaken opinion that Obama is Muslim.

Those people are busdrivers, mechanics, business men and women. They check out your groceries, install you cable, work in the gas station that you get your gas. They are your coworkers, family, friends.

This is a horrible widespread rumor that concerns me considerably. What we don't want is some slightly off-center "martyr" - whipped into a frenzy by irresponsible comments from the McCain team - that wouldn't mind sacrificing his or herself to save the country from this made-up threat.
