The Des Moines Register recently had a story about this Iowa flood control development. The smaller photo is from the Polk County assessor's office, and the bigger photo is from Google Earth. According to the paper:The nearly four-acre basin was constructed about two years ago and "took some of the load off of the pipe downstream" and helps prevent flooding, according to Des Moines City Engineer Jeb Brewer.
Some things you just can't make up.
