This sentence in today's Wall Street Journal confuses me.
WASHINGTON -- As the scandal over former Rep. Mark Foley has expanded to entwine Republican leaders who knew of his emails to underage male House pages but took limited action, the party has new reason to worry about two key constituencies: Christian conservatives and suburban soccer moms.Ok, then, let's put this in perspective. You mean there are people who have been voting Republican, who share the values of Republicans, who support the War in Iraq, who think Bush is doing a job, who think the country isn't going in the shitter, who have voted for Bush twice -- and they're going to change their mind because of one horny gay Republican in Florida?
People who change their vote based on this type of event shouldn't be voing in the first place.
I'm talkin' to you, Soccer Mom.

They way that I understand it...is that the concern with Soccer Moms and Christain Collalition voters is not that they will vote Democrat, but will, out of disgust, just not bother to vote. So the Democrats aren't gaining votes by this issue, but are just not having as many votes count against them. Same net effect, but different rationale.
