This is a very astute observation. Ironically the St. Patrick's Day is kind of ruined for me here in NYC because of the blatant discrimination against gays practiced by the St. Patrick's Day parade organizers. The very same people who faced such hostile discrimination only a few generations ago. For me it's always a question of whether I should join the gay protesters or not. Not exactly a fun choice
Irish-Catholics should be more understanding. They let their own priests march in the parade, right?
This isn't meant to be snarky about priests, just a realistic observation that the relative percentage of homosexuals who are priests is much greater than the general population, based on what I've been told by ... gay priests I know.
I'm an ex-pamphleteer turned blogger who provides tightly-focused niche coverage of movies, TV, politics and kittens. I don't discrimate against people based on race, religion, sexual preference or your level of stupidity. Occassionally, I also blog on sports, history, Britney Spears and Abe Lincoln. My lover's name is Wally, and although he seems a little embarassed by this blog, he never really says so when he's sober.

Michael: Good point.
