Four Presidents And A Funeral

President Bush is speaking live, right now, about Gerald Ford at the former president's funeral. Also at the funeral are Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton and Bush the Greater.

Every single one of them is thinking about what is going to be said at their own funeral, and I'm sure they're a little wistful.

Ford was praised for various things: the Nixon pardon, of course, but also his stands while a congressman to support voting rights and civil rights.

Years from now, at the funeral of Bush the Lesser, I wonder if the name Terri Schiavo will be mentioned, and whether any Great Figure of our time will recall in a moving eulogy that special Sunday session of Congress convened on March 20, 2005, by Republicans to save her life, exactly two years to the day from the opening shots of Operation Iraqi Freedom, which also might get a mention.
